The summer camp that our kids go to also knew and worked with the directors of that summer camp. The thing that was so deeply upsetting to me was that I did the research on that tragedy and the tech that could have prevented it appeared to cost somewhere around $900k or so. It was 1970s siren technology. The county simply sat on the funding and chose not to implement it. The reason the kids and adults at that camp received no warning about the flood is because the notifications were sent via email and SMS and not a very loud very immediate siren that would get people out of bed and immediately running for higher ground.

This was gross negligence, and county should face legal consequences. Should be TX state law based on this incident. Heartbreaking. Thank you for writing about this. Have been thinking about these families.
