Special Announcement: The Audience Building Course is back!

We're running our 3rd cohort of the Audience Building Course in January. It's a live cohort-based course designed to help you build a high-leverage audience. Results from prior cohorts speak for themselves—hundreds of thousands of new followers and subscribers and countless new monetization opportunities created.

The course will take place from January 18-21. I’ll share all my frameworks and tactics that helped me grow my Twitter audience from 0 to 425K+ in 18 months and my newsletter from 0 to 50K+ in 6 months.

Only 50 spots remaining—you can grab your seat before we fill up here.

Today at a Glance:

  • Quote: Desmond Tutu on light and darkness.

  • Tweet: Building a 9-figure cannabis business.

  • Article: Balaji on Mirrortables.

  • Podcast: My First Million with Steph Smith.

  • Bonus: A mesmerizing way to ring in the new year.

One Quote:

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” - Desmond Tutu

When you’re in the darkness, believe you will eventually find the light.

When you’re in the light, lift up those struggling to find it.

5 years ago I left my job to start selling weed with some guys I grew up with. Our first year we sold $1.2M to dispensaries a pound at a time. Now we're publicly traded and we'll do $130M in 2022. Millions of jars, joints, edibles, vapes. Here's what we did:

Colin is becoming one of my favorite Twitter creators. He drops a lot of tactical threads from earned experience that I find very interesting. This one on building a 9-figure cannabis business was great.

One Article:

The Mirrortable

Balaji Srinivasan is an insanely smart deep thinker, but he does a great job breaking down complex topics into simple-ish terms.

In this piece, he dives in on the concept of a mirrortable—an on-chain representation of a traditional cap table with 24/7 uptime, international wallet support, and integration with smart contracts. Importantly, he addresses how new web3 tools can interact with web2 tools in a synergistic way.

I had to re-read several sections, but it was worth it. Fascinating stuff.

One Podcast:

My First Million: Companies of One That Make Millions

My First Million is no secret at this point, but Steph Smith was new name for me. She was absolutely awesome in this episode, diving in on a bunch of cool opportunities that exist out there for scrappy entrepreneurs.

As I’ve said before, there’s no shortage of opportunities—just a shortage of people willing to put in the work to capitalize on them.

Mercury is disrupting the old model. They offer FDIC-insured bank accounts, virtual and physical debit cards, international and domestic wires that are free to send, 3-click payment flows, and more. We personally use Mercury for our business banking with the podcast and Sahil is an investor.
