Celebrate the dreamers—it’s much more fun to cheer than to boo.
One Tweet:
Great thread from my close friend (and partner-in-crime) Greg on a framework for thinking about NFTs. This was the best simple framework I’ve read and clarified my own thinking on the topic.
Also really enjoyed Shaan’s simple 3-part theory for thinking about the Metaverse.
Ok, I guess that was two tweets…but whatever, this is my newsletter, so I make the rules.
One Article:
How South Dakota Became a Global Tax Haven
The Pandora Papers revealed an unlikely new tax haven: South Dakota.
This is a (very quick) read summarizing a longer WaPo piece on how South Dakota established itself as a haven for the ultra-rich. Low/no taxes and a court system that make it practically impossible to obtain financial records are at the heart of it, but there’s more.
I love stuff like this…
One Podcast:
Talk Your Book: Real World Betting Markets
I recently went down a rabbit hole on Kalshi—the first CFTC regulated event contract and prediction markets platform. Lots of interesting insights in this interview of Kalshi’s co-founder, Tarek Mansour.
I’ve long been interested in prediction markets and the “wisdom of crowds”—but I’ve only recently started to understand how the markets work, the potential use cases of event contracts in a portfolio, and the unique regulatory complexities of operating a platform in the space.
If you’re interested, check out Kalshi and poke around. It’s an intellectual rabbit hole with a lot of cool potential applications.
Listen to it on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
One Bonus:
I think this is the best thread in the history of Twitter. I laughed out loud for a full 10 minutes while reading through it.
The internet remains undefeated.
For something slightly more educational on Zuck, here’s a clip of me calling their name change “Crisis Management 101” on live TV shortly before their announcement. It’s a bit more nuanced than that, but my point still holds.

Shaan Puri's tweet is extremely interesting.
This part in particular: "The metaverse is the moment in time when our digital life is worth more to us than our physical life".
We don't realize yet how much the metaverse will change our lives in the future. An incredible revolution.
